… it has become rare for us to read words written by hand. And yet they always bring us joy. A handwritten birthday card. A little note someone quickly left for us. So much is in a hurry, can never move fast enough, and is subject to the constant urge to optimise everything. That has its benefits, of course, but it can also leave us breathless. When do we truly take our time? Only once we feel we have none left?
I love writing just as much as I love materials and the tactile nature of life, and so the letter has found its way back into my focus.
The good old-fashioned letter, with all its precious qualities. I would love to bring it back to life – in all its uniqueness, as a snapshot of a moment, and as something that exists in shape, texture and colour.
