I’m Johanna

I’m interested in people and what moves them. How we perceive, think and feel, how we make sense of the world – and what we create from there. I like to listen, ask questions and see connections.

I love language just as much as everything that happens between the lines, and I like looking at things from different perspectives. For more than 30 years, I’ve worked with individuals, teams and organisations. I come from the world of classical communication, consulting and concept development, and at some point I realised that communication remains on the surface if we don’t also look at what lies beneath it: who we are, what has shaped us and what feels genuinely true and right for us.

That led me deeper into personal and spiritual work. Today, I bring both worlds together – strategy and intuition, communication and inner work. The stories we tell ourselves about who we are and how the world works shape our reality. What excites me is what becomes possible when we recognise those stories – and begin to tell ourselves a new one.

Experience

I come from the classical world of communication and hold a degree in Communication. I started out in advertising, working in copywriting and concept development. At 21, I became self-employed and also began teaching.

In the 1990s, the emerging digital world became part of my work. At one of Berlin’s first multimedia agencies, I built and headed the concept department and began exploring how communication works in new media. At a time when much of what we now take for granted was only just emerging, I was developing and teaching copywriting and concept development for these new forms of communication.

Over the years, my work became increasingly diverse. I have worked as a concept developer, consultant and communication trainer, created workshops and training programmes, and worked with individuals, teams and companies across very different worlds – from agencies, media and marketing to industry, IT and start-ups, universities, art and culture, and international projects.

I have accompanied more than 1,500 students in their development and served on Communication Design examination boards assessing more than 1,000 students.

Over time, one thing became increasingly clear to me: good methods and skills matter, but what really makes the difference is how we use them. Whether we are present, trust ourselves and are able to act authentically. The clearer we are within ourselves, the better we can use everything we have learned and everything we already know how to do.

That is why, over the years, I expanded my classical communication work to include methods and tools from personal and spiritual development. Today, my Communication & Creation Coaching and Consulting brings all of this together: communication, strategy and concept development alongside personal development and work on deeper levels.

I work with people of all ages and from many different countries, in German and English – and, when needed, with an interpreter.

How I Work

I work with clarity, structure and a strong conceptual mind, while paying close attention to people, situations and what may not be immediately visible.

I’m interested not only in how something is communicated, but in what lies behind it: what we perceive, the stories we tell ourselves, what we believe to be true and what we create from there. Because when something changes at that level, the way we communicate, make decisions and see our possibilities changes too.

The Story Behind the Story

In my twenties, I was diagnosed with cancer. At the time, I was advised to have my uterus removed. That moment made me understand something that has stayed with me ever since: I was being presented with one possible version of my future – but I didn’t have to make it my story.

I didn’t want fear to decide what came next. I wanted to find out what else might be possible. So I began to tell the story differently – the story I told myself about my body, my future and what I believed was possible.

That was the beginning of a very personal exploration of communication. Not only the way we communicate with others, but the way we speak to ourselves, what we believe and expect, and what we create from there. I learned to listen more closely – to myself, to my body and to everything that happens between the lines.

Today, I am healthy and have two grown children who bring me an incredible amount of joy.

That experience still shapes my work today. It showed me just how powerful communication can be and how much can change when we recognise the stories we are telling ourselves and consciously choose to tell them differently. Communication is something we always have with us. And the better we understand how to use it, the more possibilities we have to shape and create our own lives.
